Black tarry stool

A few weeks ago i had a few days of regular type diarhea (diarrhea), so i took some Imodium (immodium) a-d and some Pepto Bismo to help with the diarhea (diarrhea) and upset in my intestines.Ever since taking the Imodium (immodium) and Pepto Bismo my diarhea (diarrhea) has turned to a very dark tarry..almost odoless bowel movements.I have never had this before.I have read that Pepto Bismo can cause this sometimes, but it has been just over a week since taking it and my bowel movements are still dark/tarry/almost odorless.I don't notice any blood in the bowel movements and my urine seems normal.

I'm starting to get a little nervous and wondering what could be casing this.I take a aspirin every day for general heart health and am on methadone for chronic pain in my lower back due to nerve damage i suffered in an accident years ago.I've never had any trouble with ny of my mdication, not even constipation from my pain medication.How long would the Pepto Bismo cause the dark/tarry stool for?Could that be the cause even a week after taking it, or is it likely somethign else?

I don't know for how long Pepto Bismo endures in the intestines - but if this point has been passed then I would advise you to seek medical advice.  The medical name for black tarry motions containing blood is MELENA - look it up on google/yahoo to find out more.

Any form of rectal bleeding/melena should cause you to seek medical advice
