I have been having pain in my right lower side that seems to be connected somehow to my rectum.Whenever the pain gets stronger my rectum bleeds.I have severe pain in my lower spine from this, and a quirky feeling in my stomach.I am unable to see a doctor at this time ,as I dont have any medical benefits. If theres anyone out there that has any insite to this I would appreciate it if you would let me know. Thanks!

Unfortunately, there is nothing to do for this outside of a hospital. I am a nurse anesthetist and the symptoms you describe are in urgent need of medical attention. Most cities have public hospitals that admit patients regardless of thier ability to pay. I urge you to be seen in the emergency room as soon as possible (today!) Good luck

I would take the nurses advise.  I had almost the same symptons 10 months ago, and the same situation.  As the nurse said, the hospital will treat you--whether you can pay or not, BUT also there are social workers that should be able to help you get medical assistance--at least call the ER and discuss this with them.  They would probibly have the person/people working on the paperwork by the time you get to the hospital!!

Good Luck!!

Everyone please give me your input. I'm very worried and scared right now...

The last time I went to the bathroom for number 2 (taking a ****). I noticed that the toilet was filled with blood. Not a lot, I have seen this before but it was very very rarely that I see this. I figured I must have put too much pressure on my buttock's hole and caused it to bleed.

But today, I went to the crapper and the whole toilet was filled with blood. A LOT of blood. More than any of those other times that I've noticed blood. Bright red, almost whole toilet water was diluted in blood.

I am very worried. I am 18 years old Male. I don't have any pains on my body. I don't take any supplements or do drugs or anything. I only drink water, milk and orange juice.

What I really like to know is what the cause is. Can it be caused by eating spicy food? I will take extra precaution if my next visit to the bathroom is the same as today's

You need to be seen by a doctor--same advise as anyone that has bleeding like that.  From your interesting description, you've apparantly had this in a mild form--BUT alot of blood needs to be evaluated by a doctor as soon as possible-and anyone on this comment page will tell you that.

Your symptoms differ from Brooks in that your bleeding is not accompanied by other, more worrisome symptoms. It is not uncommon to see bright red blood after a bowel movement, without pain, in a person who has mild hemorrhoids. Often they can be felt with the fingers when examining the area and can certainly visualized.  I would not be overly worried at this point, and please know that a very small amount of bright red blood looks ENORMOUS in the toilet bowl, easily turing evrything red. Do consult your physician and be prepared to hear you are going to be OK.

Sounds like you might have internal hemmroids.  I would most definitely get checked out by your doctor.  Take care and best of luck to you.

I have the same exact symptons as does Bobby Dee, and a recent trip to the bathroom kind of scared me.  As someone mentioned a little blood probably looks like a lot when in water but it really looked like alot.  Being the stubborn 18 year old male that i am, i am very reluctant to tell my parents or contact a physician.  I am definitely not one for tests especially when they would involve my butt.  Is this a definite sign of hemmeroids? or is this actually common with most people at one point or another in their lives?  is there anything that can be done on my own? thanks for any input.

I am having the same problem. Twice now in the past two months blood has been inside the toilet after well, going #2. I am a young woman, 19, and am terrified that I have colon cancer or something horrible. I am away at college and cannot see a doctor until I return home for spring break. I have told my mother, and she says she thinks its hemmorids. I'm so freaked!!! Any comments anyone. P.S. I do take diet metabolisers

I'm not a medical professional--bleeding on it's own DOES NOT MEAN you have cancer, but it DOES mean that you should be SEEN IMMEDIATELY by a medical professional.  As in previous postings, the presents of blood can mean many things.  Each of you should speak to your doctors and/or parents.  Your doctor will probibly do a complete physical w/blood workup.  My diagnosis wound up being a combination: a disorder call irritable bowel syndrome (cute name--HUH! and is VERY common) and a "rare" bleeding disorder (Only about 1% of the population have it--wasn't discovered for almost 40 years).

I have recently experienced some blood in my stool.  It does not fill the toilet like some other people were saying, it is just a little bit and looks like it is part of a small piece of stool.  I have no pain or uncomfortable feelings, just the small amount of  bright red blood.  It hasn't been regular, there one day and gone for the next two.  I am a healthy 22 year old female...does anyone have any advice?
