Bloating after recent Lap chole

by cheeksgirl, Nov 07, 2009 06:10PM
I had a laparoscopic cholecystectomy this past Tuesday.  Since I have been terribly bloated to the point in the evenings that I feel like I can't catch my breath.  I had one LARGE stone that could not be broken up to be taken out so the surgeon enlarged the epigastric incision to almost and inch in order to extract the stone.  I have some pain in the RUQ and right back, but nothing major...just the horrible bloating which is way worse when I eat or drink.  Is this normal immediately after this surgery???

You may have some small stones in the bile duct that are blocking the flow of bile to the small intestine.  Give your doctor a call and report the symptoms.  Sometimes the "gravel" passes on its own; other times the doc can use an endoscope to flush it out.
