Bloating stomach

by worriedhypochondriac, Oct 06, 2008 09:59PM
Hi...I am a 29  year old female.  For the past couple months I have noticed that at times I get a bloated feeling in my upper stomach.  In the early part of this year  (around February) I had a Upper GI because I was having feelings of something stuck in my throat.  The upper GI came back showing mild to moderate acid reflux and other than that everything looked normal.  Lately I have been having other issues such as shortness of breath and excessive burping that would release this shortness of breath.  I have had numerous tests such as a breathing test done by a pulmonologist, a heart ultrasound by a cardiologist, and ultrasound and CT of my thyroid.  All of these tests came back normal with a few variances, but nothing that alarmed the physician. Also I noticed a little drop in my weight and being 83 pounds (which has been the norm for as long as I can remember) I can't afford to lose any weight.  I am at a lost and was just wondering what the likelihood is that I would have stomach cancer?  If not, is there other conditions that I could have that could cause these symtoms?  I am really worried and would appreciate your response.

Thank you

These symptoms happened with me because of a diseased gallbladder. Do you notice more bloating after you eat? Does it get worse when you eat fatty foods? Do you have any shoulder pain between your shoulder blades or at the top of your shoulder? Upper right abdomen pain? Not that all these symptoms have to be present, but they are on the list, as well as, extreme gas from both ends, indigestion, and heartburn, at least in my case. I would get short of breath also just from being so bloated. Mention gallbladder to your doctor and see what he says. The test to see if it is sludgy, thickened, or if you have gallstones is a simple and painless ultrasound. Hope this helps.

I notice more after I eat. I don't have any real pain with it. But I did notice (not to sound gross) that my bowel movements are not as they should be; more like every 2 days but then again it can be normal and be everyday.  So I guess you can say that it is irregular.  I am not sure how long ago but I have been tested for the H-pylori bacteria and it was negative.  I believe this was about 5 years ago or so.  Other than the bloating and the irregular bowel movements, and shortness of breath which somewhat gets relieved after I burp.  I have been through many tests for the shortness of breath, and it doesn't seem to be my lungs or heart.  Thanks for the information. Gallbladder???? I will have to check up on that.
Thanks
