Blood Lakes in the liver

I was recently told I have "blood lakes" in my liver.  I was told that usually women who have taken birth control pills show these changes in the liver (I guess due to increases in estrogen levels).  But, I've never taken birth control pills and I am wondering why I have them.  I was told that as long as they were not compromising the function of my liver to not worry about them and to have another ultrasound in 3 months.  I'm not someone who just sits around and waits for something to get worse before doing something.  I'd like to find out what caused them so I may possibly modify it before more damage occurs.   Anyone else have some insight?  I have had two children??

Estrogen is only one reason for this lakes, called hepatic hemangioma, probably cavernous hepatic hemangioma. They are benign, grow slowly, and they make problems only if they press somewhere or disturb liver function. You may ask a doctor what is exact type of this lakes in your case.
