Blood and mucus stools

A few months ago I started getting stools with mucus and sometimes I would just get a lot of gas with mucus one of these times I also got a small amount of poo mixed with mucus and blood
As well as this I sometimes had a small amounts of blood when I wiped (this happened a few yrs ago also)
A month or 2 ago went to the doctor who sent me for a stool sample which came back with no blood in it and am awaiting a colonoscopy

Since then the syptoms haven't returned until today which was a blood and mucus stool

I have also had dirrhea a fair bit over the past few yes esp when feeling stressed or worried

Am really worried and the doctor didn't really give me much information as to causes  

In addition to this I also had an irregular pap smear and had to go into day surgery to have cells removed from my cervix since them pap smers have been clear ..could this be related?

A rectal exam might be a good idea before the colonoscopy.

No she just asked about symptoms has got me a specialist appointment where they decide if i need a colonoscopy and another test which I cant remember the Name of. I rang the hospital and my appointment  is in 2 weeks

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  I would recommend talking to your doctor again.  The pap smear results are likely unrelated.  Did your doctor do a rectal exam?
