Blood in BM; pain when passing

I am 16 years old. For the past half year or so there have been a bit of bright red blood on the toilet paper during BM and some pain while passing but I thought it was just constipation so I didn't go to the doctor. However starting several days ago during BM there has been a lot more bright red blood than usual in the toilet. It stings a lot only when passing and the stool is not soft. Today there was a bit of darker blood along with bright red blood in the toilet during BM. I've been eating a lot of fiber and have been drinking enough water every day but it doesn't seem to help at all. My family doesn't have health insurance and I'm really worried. Does anyone have a similar problem and can anyone please tell me what this might be?

Thanks for your responses, patient915 and bgb1976. The issue was resolved and it turned out to be a hemorrhoid. The bleeding and pain stopped after I took some stimulant laxatives and added a lot more fiber to my diet, but I'll be on the lookout in case the symptoms reappear.

Hey u need to go. I am 33 had blood for 2 years and finally went for colonoscopy and they removed a polyp. One that would have turned cancerous in a couple of years, and they say its rare to happen, but just be on safe side and get it done

It could be a bunch of things and it sounds like you need to see a doctor.  It might be hemorrhoids or anal fissures which usually resolve on their own or you could try treatment for that.  Because it has been so long you really need to see a doctor and probably need to get a colonoscopy.
