Blood in Stool

by Nadine, Nov 05, 2001 12:00AM
I am 31 years old, currently 6 months pregnant and I have two older girls.  In the past 3-4 weeks I have blood in my stool, it is dark red color with clogs at sometimes.  My stools are regular and I have no discomfort or cramping but, in the spring I have had diarrhea for about 2-3 weeks with blood in my stools and when my results came back I was told nothing.  So what could I have, is it serious?

You need to call your OBGYN and let your doctor know what is happening. This could be a simple case of hemorrhoids that are quite common during pregnancy, but only your doctor could make that diagnosis.

first off for you to have blood in your stool it has to be something  wrong .it may be as simple as hemmrhoids or ulcers ,it could also be polyps which can be removed .have you had a colonoscopy test done? and have you been to a gastro/digestive specialest ?.if it is polyps they can remove them as they do the scope(colonoscopy)they will put you under for the test .the fact is this test is great in helping myself and countless others find problems that other test have missed. i wish you the best ( please reply back)

It is probably nothing abnormal.  My wife is pregnant 9th month second child and she has been worried about this with the first child.  The doctor said that the passing of the stool just tore the anus a little.  Do not stress over this.  Just let your obgyn know.

from what you have said this is not the first time you have passed blood .just for safty sake i would see a doctor(gastro)and also inform your obgyn on what is going on ,but any time you are passing blood through bowel movement it is best to know for sure what the cause is.it may be something quite simple but in your condition you need to make sure.god bless.
