Blood in diarrhea

Hello, I am a 25 year old male who is living in Argentina. Today is the third day that I have had diarrhea but is the first day that I have seen blood in it. I'm starting to worry that I have some sort of gastroenteritis or something. The diarrhea started after I ate these dessert things called alfajores. I think they might be the culprit. What should I do about the blood? Should I seek medical attention or is this something that will run it's course?

I went to a doctor today who specializes in gastroenterology. He said that it sounded like food poisoning and that everything else was normal. He gave me some medicine for the cramps, something similar to Pepto-Bismol, and a prescription for some antibiotics. Hopefully everything will clear up.

Hey Jabe37.
Welcome to the forum.

Please make arrangements to have this checked by a Doctor.
Meanwhile, get some good quality coconut oil and start taking orally 1 teaspoon
every few hours. Therapeutic dosage is 4 Tablespoons daily.
Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is anti-fungal, antibacterial, anti-viral and anti-parasitic.
Staying hydrated is of great importance. Make sure that the drinking water is very safe
or purchase water purifying tablets from the pharmacy there..

Many parasites- because of their hard lipid membranes- escape the effects of municipal chlorination of water, intact. On top of that they may escape micro-filtration, because of their very small structure. Specially single cell parasites like giardia or cryptosporidium.

Chamomile tea  is very beneficial and safe.
Also peppermint tea is recommended for diarrhea.
Avoid sweets, grains and dairy completely for a while, as most likely they will contribute to your problems.
Hope you feel better soon and what you have is not too serious. (there are many causes
of blood in the stools).
If you have any questions or to give update pls post again.
Blessings
Nikodicreta

Yes. I plan on going to a doctor tomorrow. I'm also drinking a lot of gatorade. I haven't had to go to the bathroom with any kind of urgency today but the diarrhea is still present. I'm having really bad cramps though. I really hope it's nothing serious. Thanks for your comments guys.

Anytime you have blood in your stool you should go see your doctor. Make sure you are plenty hydrated as diarrhea dehydrate you very quickly. Food poisoning can cause bloody stool and so can a number of other things. In order to treat your problem you need to find out what the problem is and get checked out by a doctor!

Jabe, anytime blood is seen in the feces, a doc should be consulted. It could be hemorrhoids, but take the time to get it checked out. Something is going on if you've had 3 days of diarrhea.
