Bloody stool

Bloody stool

hello, im extremly concerned about a couple of my stools being bloody, the first was about a week ago and the second was today. i did have bms in between which were not bloody. I do recall straining both times. I am a 20 year old female student, im pretty much healthy, and pretty much scared. I am afraid it might be my fault (because i strained??) and am also scared it might be something else.

Hi - in general you are too young to be at risk from the more sinister G.I. diseases but rectal bleeding should always be investigated since it is not normal.

If indeed your doctor concludes that the source of the bleeding may be exacerbated by straining, then try to increase the fibre content of your diet so that your motions are more "muddy/sludgy" and "fall out" when you go to the toilet rather than having to be expelled through straining etc.

Good luck
