I have Colitis & my bum gets sore inside the hole & red, using suppostories that my doctor gave me & it gets better.  Then it comes back again is there anyway of getting this cleared up.  I forget the name of the suppostories.  It comes in a cream too & I have used that it clears it up and then it comes back again.
I don't know what to do everytime I go to the washroom it's sore.
I hope that you might be able to help me.  If not I can try to get the name for you.  It's also sore between the bum too and red.  Please get back to me.
Thank you,
Organ

If the cream and suppositories were helping you it might be an idea to see your doctor and get more. Also what i do when it is sore down there I take frequent warm..not hot..soothing baths. If the doctor feels that you need more cream follow his instuctions to the tee when you apply it..don't skip. If it says three times a day then follow it. I know sometimes I will be in bed and then I remember that I forgot to apply my cream and If I do not get back up and take care of it I pay the price the next day.
Also ask your doctor about using Tucks..they are a premoistened pad with soothing medicine for inflamed bums. Sometimes it even gets too sore to wipe with toilet paper..I know.
I make a compress with it and leave it on the inflamed area over night and it feels much better. That's been my experience anyways.
Take care and I wish you well :)

Virgo57 has some very good suggestions. Maybe try some of these things and see what happens. Tucks or any type of moistened wipe will usually help with the irritation. Again, hope all works out for you...be well.

it does sound like you need to get back to the gi and talk about trying different meds to get your UC under better control.  controlling that will help relieve you symptoms.  in the meantime, try using baby wipes to clean up.  they come now without any alcohols, perfumes or dyes and can be much more soothing to use than toilet paper.  you could also try using a warm washcloth or a squirt water bottle (poor man's bidet :) ).  the diaper creams used on babies can be soothing or you could try plain old petroleum jelly.  just make sure to re-apply after each bowel movement.  and don't laugh!  but there is a product that farmers use on the udder's of their cows.  I only know it as bag balm, but it works!!!

but the best thing to do to control the problem is to treat your UC more effectively.  take care.

I will ask my doctor about Tucks & see what he says & right now I'm using supporties proctosedyl & it goes away then it comes back & I'm only going twice to the washroom for the colitis. I want to get this clear up so that it doesn't come back.  I didn't have this at the start of my colitis why is't showing up now.  I would like to have something done.
