Boyfriend gets infections after his appendix ruptured a few years ago

My boyfriends appendix ruptured about 3 or 4 years ago while the doctors were taking it out of him. The infection still got in his blood stream and now he gets abscesses all around his groin area and on his testicals. The doctors told him that the infection would never go away or something like that. But he only used to get them every so often. Now he's getting 2 or 3 at a time and it happens every month. I was just wondering if anyone else has had the same problems or if there's anyway to get rid of infections for good?
