Bright Red Blood on outer stool on one side

In the past 2 days, I have had four bowel movements, the first one I pushed a little hard, and noticed a little bright red blood, on the paper and on the outer stool, the past 3 times, have had a little bit more bright red blood on the outer stool, small streaks of blood in the toilet, and some blood on the toilet paper.  Is this an internal hemorroid or something more serious?

Even if the causes are as you suspect they should still form the basis for seeking medical advice.  This will forestall any future lingering doubts that may occur in the future if you do nothing.

It has just happened the past 2 days, no real pain, I think its an internal hemmoroid or an anal fissure, it is just on the outer portion of the stool, any thoughts?

Rectal bleeding is never normal so I would always suggest seeking medical advice.  If the doctors can firmly diagnose one of the minor causes such as anal fissure or haemorrhoids then fine - but if there is any ambiguity then I would suggest a colonoscopy.

Type in rectal bleeding to google or yahoo and click on the Medicinenet site which is quite informative as a basis for having more knowledge when you visit your doctor.

Bright red usually means the blood is close to the exit which could be hemorroids or just torn tissue from a hard bowel movement. I would only worry if you have pain with it or you see tarry black stools or coffee ground like stools which then would indicate internal bleeding.
