Bright red bloody stool

by may72redliner, Nov 08, 2009 12:24AM
I have had an unusually large number of bowel movements today. I just had my 5th BM & all that came out this last time was bright red blood. Not much (if any) stool. I have recently begun eating salads daily & take 1, 81mg asprin daily as well. I am hoping it is just a hemorrhoid or fissure & not something more serious. I have no pain in my abdomen apart from being particularly gassy. Upon wiping there seemed to be sufficient clotting on the paper. What should I be looking for in the way of changing S/S that may lead to or indicate a worsening condition? This has never happened to me before & I am a bit worried.

Bright red is new blood, so that's a lot better that dark red or maroon.

Are you hemorrhoids hurting?

You should definitely get it checked out, to see if it is a fissure, hemorrhoidal problem or perhaps even a polyp (which sometimes can turn cancerous).  Please see a competent GI doctor about this.
