Bulge between sternum and navel
Just started exercise progam to hopefully get back in better shape. I am 69 years old and about 40 pounds heavier than I would like to be. While doing some of the stretching exercises, I have noticed a rather large bulge between my sternum and navel. It is not there when I am sitting or standing. There is no pain associated with it. It has been 10 years or so since I did these type of exercises but I never noticed this before. Is there a muscle in this area or is this a hernia?

It is a hernia, and probably will never cause you any problems.  They seem to be common with men, and are usually noticed while exercising ie; sit-ups.
