COLITIS AND EYE PROBLEMS

I have had ulcerative colitis for ten years now . Recently(within the past two years) I have had several eye infections.
Two of the eye infections were diagnosed as corneal ulcerations.
Once in the left eye and now in the right eye.This time the opthamologist me that there is a correlation between ulcerated colitis and eye ulcerations. This is the first time I ha-ave heard this.Is there any validity to this statement and if so where can I find more information?
