COULD THIS BE AN ULCER?

by JIMMAR, Mar 25, 2002 12:00AM
I HAVE "SPELLS" OF PAIN STARTING IN AREA DIRECTLY AT STERNUM AND/OR ABOVE IN CHEST AREA WHICH CAUSE MY PULSE TO BE EXTREMELY FAST AND POUNDING, I BECOME DEATHLY NAUSEATED, FEEL LIKE I AM GOING TO PASSOUT, HAVE LIKE MAJOR "CRAMP" LIKE FEELING IN MY THROAT AND NECK AREA WHICH AFFECT MY TONGUE AND ABILITY TO SPEAK. I HAVE TO GET ON THE FLOOR OR WHATEVER IS AVAILABLE IN ORDER TO NOT PASS OUT, MY PULSE IS TREMENDOUS IN MY EARS AND CHEST. THESE "SPELLS" ARE NOT "FOREWARNED" THEY JUST HIT ME AND LAST VARIOUS LENGTHS OF TIME. MY DR THOUGHT I WAS HAVING "ASSOCIATED" PAIN FROM GALLBLADDER, BUT I HAD ULTRASOUND AND NO GALLBLADDER PROBLEMS DETECTED, BUT FOUND FLUID IN FRONT OF MY HEART. I HAVE HAD 2 ECHOGRAMS AND WORE A HOLTER MONITOR FOR 24 HRS BUT NEITHER HAVE REALLY DETECTED ABNORMALITIES. I HAVE NO ENERGY AND AM NORMALLY A VERY ACTIVE PERSON AND KNOW SOMETHING IS DEFINATELY GOING ON AND AM WONDERING IF STOMACH ULCERS OR ETC COULD CAUSE THESE UNEXPLAINED "SPELLS". ANY SUGGESTIONS OR KNOWLEDGE WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED AS I DEFINATELY WANT THE "PROBLEM" CORRECTED.

Ask your Dr for a Hida scan. That will tell if your gallbladder is functioning or not. I had an ultrasound on mine which came back negative. Then the Hida scan showed my gallbladder only functioning at 15%. Gallbladder pain is about the most painful pain you can get. Do you have pain in your back during these attacks, and do they wake you up at night? If so get tested.
