Can Ulcerative colitus be excluded by blood test's alone?

Hi I'm 20 and male and have had symptoms for 2 weeks such as... diarrhea (twice with mucos ), stomach cramps, severe gas.. with bowl movements and dull crampy sore aches on and off during the day ,I'm currently only able to eat toast crackers and bananas without severe diarrhea and bad gas pains ,Stool sample negative for any bacteria ,virus or parasite Awaiting Blood test results testing for ulcerative colitus Crohns And celiac disease ,Will this blood test be enough to exclude these if they come bk Negative Doctor suspects IBS. Thanks

I think the gold standard for UC and other issues of the colon is colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy.

That's how they could tell my brother had UC.

So i would still need further testing even if my blood test showed nothing ? ,were your brothers symptoms simular to mine ? thanks in advance

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  2 weeks is too soon to diagnose something like IBS.  A blood tests cannot rule out UC, you need to have a colonoscopy for this.  I think you need a colonoscopy very soon.

hi and thanks !   a blood test along Cannot rule it out , but  perhaps make it less much likely  ?  I do think i have IBS even though it has only been 2 weeks Mainly because I have anxiety disorder ,depression  and OCD, I read 60% of people with IBS have mental disorders Is this correct ??

It might make it a little less likely but a colonoscopy is really the only way to diagnose UC.  Having a mental disorder doesn't increase your chances of having IBS.  I don't know if that statistic is correct.
