Can heartburn cause distal esophagitis bleeding?

Hello,

I'm 23, male, 143 lbs. (65 kg). I had acid reflux for a about a year, and one day I noticed I had stools that were partly black and tarry. Went to a gastro and had endoscopy done. Gastro said there is nothing serious, but he told me to take Aciphex for one month. Took it for one month, after which I am now having heartburn, which I did not have before taking the medicine (except six months ago)! I also sometimes have black and tarry stools as well. Here is the report:

CLINICAL HISTORY:
EGD. Distal esophagitis.

SPECIMEN:
Gastro-esophageal junction biopsy.

GROSS DESCRIPTION:
Specimen consists of 6 pieces of tan tissue, each measuring 2mm in greatest dimension. Totally submitted.

MICROSCOPIC DESCRIPTION:
Sections show fragments of G-E junction mucosa composed of nondysplastic stratified squamous epithelium with dilated venules, and fragments of gastric mucosa lined by columnar cells, gastric mucosa lined by columnar cells, gastric pits lined by mucous cells and fundic glands at the base associated with edema and moderate increase of mononuclear cells.

There is no intestinal metaplasia (no Barrett's) no cytologic atypia or malignancy.

Giemsa stain is negative for H. pylori organisms.

DIAGNOSIS:
G-E junction (endoscopy): Reflux esophagitis (GERD)

Could the partly black and stools that I now sometimes have be caused by bleeding in that region? Could reflux be causing that bleeding? Taking another PPI is not an option for me, as I already have tried three different ones. Will it heal by itself if I take care about this GERD?
