Can this be caused by overmedication

by Princess Yaya, Aug 31, 2002 12:00AM
As a diagnosed Bipolar patient, I have on several occasions taken overdoses of several medications in suicide attempts. So far everything has been fine and I am properly medicated and healthy. However, I have been told that I had a reflux problem after going to the doctor regarding what I thought was a sore throat. Swallowing is hard and burns. She put me on Nexiium and Gavistrol and told me what to stop doing etc. WhatI am wondering is this. Could I have harmed myself by the medications I overdosed on while in a near fatal depression. I have not seen any other doctor other that my MD. I've heard of these terrible illnesses that can occur and was wondering. The meds I od on included xanax, depakote, ativan, ambien, darvocet and tylenol. I'd appreciate any advice.

i just wanted to let you know that i myself have taken numerous overdoses. i am having many many physical problems myself. (if you jump to the top of the page-you will hear my cries)! anyway-i asked my psychiatrist if i may be suffering from issues resulting from my own suicide attempts. ie-liver, kidneys....he said no. he said that i was properly treated at that time and all test results have returned normal so i would not "later" have any effects from the overdoses. take care and hang in there. if you ever want to talk...email me at ***@****
