Candida infection, what would I need?

I have been having gastrointestinal problems for about 4 yrs now, but recently things got a lot worse.  I have been suffering from reflux at night, also just after a cup of tea or after a meal I burp a lot and I get a lot of flatulence, and I mean a LOT of it more recently.  It is really embarrassing.  However, two weeks ago when my partner and my daughter came down with a viral infection I also started feeling unwell.  Food and drink started to taste funny, like I could not taste the sugar in it.  I would go to bed and have reflux very bad and it was keeping me up at night.  Next day I noticed I had a burnt scratchy feeling down my throat but it tended to disappear through the day and then flare up at night again.  This scratchy feeling was not particularly painful it was more like an irritation in my throat.

After 4 days of this scratchy feeling I went to the Dr along with my daughter who was having a fever at this point, he looked at me also and said I had spots on my palatine tonsils and prescribed me a broad spectrum antibiotic.  I took the first tablet and that night I was having flu like symptoms and an elevated temperature.

As the days passed my throat was still feeling the same but this time I had aches, temperature etc, and so I thought it was just the antibiotics working.  I then finished my course and STILL had spots on my throat, this time I was getting a burning tongue after food or brushing my teeth, tingling and itching in my throat with an itchy cough (but no mucus), but my throat also felt a little gooey at night too.  I was laid in bed one night and one side of my throat was tingling like crazy, it felt strange, like pins and needles.  Beginning of the following week and my daughter is better now, my partner is better but I am still poorly.

I have been to my Dr now 4 times and have just had some blood test results come through.

I am slightly anemic (which I have been since giving birth to my daughter who is now 7 months old), and my white cell count is low.  I was told that the neutrophils are the lowest but only mildly low.  The dr said that was common "after" a virus.  But I am still poorly.  The spots in my throat have spread now and my glands have now started coming up a little but then they go down again.  I still have the temperature too.  My throat and nose itch like crazy from time to time, I have a tickly cough too, if I get a bit of reflux my throat feels hot and irritated.

The spots in my throat look nothing like tonsilitis either - they're tiny, they're like someone has drawn tiny white dots on the arches of my throat and maybe a couple on my tonsils and I am now noticing a small patch on the back of my throat.

I do have fungal infections in other places at the moment (I am very run down).  I have athletes foot, which keeps coming back, I've also had itchy spots on my hands that come and go, I also have a fungal nail infection on my foot on one toe.

I have been on antibiotics countless times for vaginal infections since giving birth, is it possible that I have widespread candida?  I am otherwise healthy but have been going through a lot of anxiety, depression and hormone imbalances.

If I have Candida would it cause an immune response like this?  What would I need to get from my Dr to stop it getting worse?

Hey there, well its been about a week and my Dr was useless, in fact I saw more than one Dr and they started telling me I was visiting their office too often and they were worried about my "mental health" because I was getting anxious.  I was anxious because I did not know what was happening.  I was told it was my "body attacking itself because of a physical reaction to anxiety" and had I been through a lot of stress recently - well yes I have been through a lot of stress but they seemed to miss the fact that I was right and that it was thrush.

Anyway, I have now started getting white patches in my mouth and on my tongue, my throat still feels irritated and tingly.  So I can most definately say that it is thrush and I am going to see about getting some grapefruit seed oil and I am also going back to the Dr for some antifungal medications, I am also considering the anti-candida diet despite the fact that I have rapidly lost weight (which I think now is down to stress and candida overgrowth).

I can see that stress might have caused an imbalance and i can also see that the antibiotics probably made it worse.  I have been doing a lot of reading about candida and feel a little more reassured.

I want to say something back to this because in my searches to find what iscausing my abdominal pain someone had suggested widespread candidas because they had had it. The problem is I really don't know what to say besides yes it can happen, mostly to those with weaker immune systems. The symptoms are really broad though as an intestinal infection of it but i have to ask if your doc ruled out thrush in your throat, that is what an oral Candida infection is called and usually is caused by antibiotics killing all the good bacteria and letting candidas thrive, which is always in our system.
I can offer a natural way against candida that the lady who suffered from it gave me if you just wanted to see if it helps, grapefruit seed oil, you can get it at natural food stores. And also this is not summed for bacteria growth but you mentioned stomach stuff too and this stuff is really a miracle when it comes to digestive health , aloe Vera juice. It has alot of health benefits and really aids in healing and soothing the digestive track. Though stay cleAr of the unfiltered kind it has an almost metallic taste where as the filtered has none. Also something you can get at the health food store.

I wish you luck in finding out what's wrong, though I suggest seeing your doctor again if nothing has improved. It really sounds like your body is telling you somethings wrong. I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful :)
