Celiac and other

Dr, I first want to thank you for offering this service as some kind of alternate voice of professional medical advice or at least a quest for answers for myself and others.

I wrote to you earlier about having mild elevated lipase off and on for years most recent was the past 3 months of lipase of 450 each time and normal range of 56 to 300. After I have woken up being sick from a night before of eatinf Lasagna, Beer, etc

After having my Enhanced CT and ultra sounds and multiple blood tests all was fine and nothing abnormal was seem and unremarkable.

My question is this, Since you suggested Celiac to me I have had the blood tests and my doc forgot to get the main one tgg to combine the tga and others, so they came back in the normal range but close to abnormal, however since then I went on a gluten free diet and I have almost releived myself of all symptoms.

My symptoms were never bad upper pain (like they explain with pancreas problems) but it WAS all intestinal and gi, gas sounds, nausea, pain here and there lost weight in the past 3 years while eating normal, lately in the last 9 months, i had the anxiety here and there onset depression, weird aches and pains, like arthritis etc.

When I first ask you about this I was having lots of gas pains that would releave with burping or passing gas, weird warm pain in my leg BAD ANXIETY weird itching and dermatits, depression you name it all the signs of celiac from what my doc gave me.

As of today I have no real diagnosis and now waiting for an appointment with a GI specialist, however My doc told him he didnt think i needed a scope.

Since I have been on a GF diet I have had less ANxiety almost none, Weird aches andpains are gone, Stomach has almost calmed down completley Nausea is basically gone, no depression,Normal Stools, I have more energy than I have had in a long time, Oh and My sinus problems HAVE dramatically improved.

I am still wondering what is going on though, I hate not having a clear answer on what it is, IS IT CELIAC, I sometimes wonder if I am like the movie "what about BOB" right about now. Its really confusing, I still have weird Bubbling sounds here and there, but on the most part I FEEL GREAT,

Could it also be Gastritus? Or ulcers from STRESS, I take Nexium, If it were something serious, would it be getting better like it is? What are your thoughts?

With the scans you have had, many of the major disorders would have been ruled out.  An upper endoscopy would be needed to complete the workup.

Celiac disease can be difficult to diagnose.  Testing for IgA deficiency can be considered if you are having negative celiac testing.  In people with IgA deficiency, the markers for celiac disease can be negative.

That being said, if the disease is still suspected despite negative testing, a small bowel biopsy would be needed for a more definitive evaluation.  This can be discussed with your GI specialist, or in conjunction with another opinion.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
