Gas comes from intestinal bacteria, because of:
1. bacterial overgrowth. Diagnosis with BREATH TEST.
2.malabsorption due to any disease which affects intestine:
- infection, Dg with STOOL TEST for bacteria
- inflammation (IBD), Dg with COLONOSCOPY
- celiac disease, Dg with opper endoscopy - GASTRODUODENOSCOPY
- lactose intolerance
What YOU can do:
1. make a DIET TEST: omit ANY milk product (milk, cheese, icecream, butter, etc) from your diet, if the cause of your problems is lactose intolerance, symptoms will improve in few days.
2. You can try with GLUTEN-FREE DIET, this is a bit more complicate, since gluten is in many foods.
WHAT TEST YOU CAN DEMAND:
1. STOOL TEST for infection
2. BREATH TEST for H. Pylori or small intestinal bacterial ovegrowth (SIBO)
Just remember: gas comes from BACTERIA. In intestinal disease, some nutrients can't be absorbed, so bacteria ingest them and produce gas.
My gas issues is to the left. i am 37 female. I have been through EKG, blood tests, and chest xray and the stress test. I had my gallbladder out. I have had my thyroid out, and a total hysterectomy. I am hypothyroid and need my meds adjusted. Instead of tapering off and changing the diet slowly, I did things in excess--like drinking lots of bottled water, eating more fiber and all. My problem is that the gas gets trapped. (IE the pains in the chest). I just don't take the meds because I don't believe in them as in there are so many side effects. Think about what you were doing when the pains first started........what's the latest?
