Cholecystitis/ menstruation

I've had a hx of cholecystitis during pregnancies.  Have never had a cholecystectomy.  For the last 3 months several days before my menstrual cycle I've been having horrible neck/back pain, nausea with vomitting and just overall flu like symptoms.  It's sort of like having morning sickness without being pregnant.  My question is.....Is the surge of hormones before my period causing pxs with my gallbladder.  Is there any correlation b/w the gallbladder and menstration?  Before the twins a had a normal gallbladder, negative sonogram.  Is there anything I can do to reduce the N/V symptoms and overall aching pain?

Sorry, I sent to the wrong person.  I can't seem to send a message directly because it keeps saying I'm putting in the wrong code.  I keep trying different ways but to no avail.

Yep, you're probably right. My husband has been saying the same thing.  His sister has this cleansing stuff, she swears by it.  I guess I'm just hoping it will go away.  Well after 3 months of suffering horribly before my cycle I need to do something.  SHOCK to everyone in my family I made an MD appt. for Monday.  How I hate tests, appts. Dr's. etc.  mostly waiting I suppose, the time it takes for everything.  If a fat-free diet works it sure is worth a try.
We went to NY last year.  MAN I loved it.  Definitely going back.  I live in Arizona.  We have a cattle ranch.  When I'm not on the computer I'm feeding the animals or horseback riding somewhere checking the fences, moving cattle or just going for a ride.  Different worlds yes!  They are both awesome!!!!  Jules :)

I was *thinking* about this last night .. what if you go on a fat-free diet over the days of the cycle .. a few before, during and day after?  Might that help control some of the symptoms .. ?  Just a long shot but may be worth a try.

WOW .. I live in a suburb on NY . It sounds so far away where you live!  I can take a suburban bus or train and be in Manhattan in under an hour ...... how cool is the Internet!  What State are you in?

Thanks so much for your comment.  I guess I also found another animal lover.  I have cattle,  horses, any where from 15 - 24 dogs at one given time, chickens, geese, and  1 cat because of the coyotes and mountain lions close to the ranch.  I'm hoping for any quick fix with this gallbladder/menstrual cycle issue.  We are going to be rounding up the cattle right before my next cycle.  I so wish for a miracle....no surgery and the ability to ride with not the horrible pain I've been experiencing the last 3 months.

Yep.  Hormones have a great deal to do with how much cholesterol thickens up the bile.  The thicker the bile, the more likely you are to develop sludge or outright stones anywhere in the bile duct or gallbladder.   Even if you don't have stones, your gallbladder may not be able to function correctly.  It would be worthwhile to consult a gastroenterologist about further testing along the lines of a HIDA scan.  Some people can avoid surgery by taking statin meds to control the cholesterol levels, therby thinning out the bile so it flows better.

I was wondering the same thing bcz before my daughter had her GB surgery 3 weeks ago, she had same symptoms which were so bad she missed time from school, etc. and they all thought IBS, Menstruation, etc., and nobody thought GB!!!!  She took Prevacid for the 3 days a month and since the surgery not even a hint of Prevacid and anxiously awaiting her next period if you know what I mean .. sort of a test of the gallbladder being gone now and is there a relation b/t the two!
