My article is related to everyone who has undergone a choledochal cyst surgery and is still experiencing the pain. My brother who underwent choledochal cyst surgery ( june 2009) started getting the pain again in three months ( august 2009) . Doctors said it could be the post operative syndrome and we helplessly believed them.
Six months after the operation my brother suffered from extreme pain in his upper abdomen which used to travel towards its back, unfortunately doctors said they were not able to figure out the cause. ( be attentive if the same thing is happening to you!!!)
It was in mai 2010 ( after almost a year after my brothers first surgery) that doctors got to know he had CHRONIC PANCREATITIS
. My advice to everyone is that after any choledochal cyst operation if you are still getting the pain get YOUR PANCREAS EXAMINED. Its very very important, doctors will take ages to figure out but with the experience its the pancreas which is getting burned ( because of some swolen pancreatic duct) by its own pancreatic juices ( cyst and pancreatitits and pancreatic cancer and closely related so dont be reluctant).
Normally the pancreatitits or any pancreatic disease is very difficult to diagnose by the doctors as its very deeply situated in our body,,so even if doc says everything is normal get your pancreas checked with the most advanced tests available ( PET SCAN) .
I have lost my brother I dont want any other sister goes through the same experience. If in case you get to know its pancreatitis
or its too late its better to get the pancreas removed and live on artificial pancreas then seeing your loved one dying of this cancer.. Act fast if any of you is in the same case... Best of luck,, live happily
