Chronic Constipation

My son has been hospitalized 9 times and a NG tube to clean him out and lots and lots of other test but will still have no answers been going thru this for 1 1/2 years now he is on miralax 17 grams 3 times a day and senna 15 ml and still is not going but about a tablespoon once a week.We have been told for 1 year he had ulcertive colitis and chrones disease and then in aug his gastro dr said oh he doesn't even have this but that his rectum is streched out and he can hold more stool than the normal person can but even with the laxitives and miralax he still can not go.He is 6  now and even back in 2003 I was told by the doctors to just bive him suppositors and enemas.Now they are going to do biofeedback to test muscles also told they want to do biopsy for hirshsprung but want to rule out others first.Please help me by letting me know if this is normal for this problem to last this long he has been thru so much that he hates to go to the doctor how do I make it easier for him to deal with Thanks

WOW THAT SOUNDS CRAZY, HE STILL WONT GO AFTER ALL TAHT MED. MY SON IS ON MIRALAX AS WELL AND THE FLETCHERS WITH SENNA, BUT DOES HE GO WITH THE ENEMA? SUPPOSITOR'S ARE NOTHING FOR THEM ,THE NEED ENEMAS!!! WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN THEY TAKE ALL TAHT MED. AND DONT GO?HAS THE DR. EVER SUGGEST YOU GIVE HIM 3 ENEMAS EVERY 1-2 HRS TO REALLY CLEAN HIM OUT? I WAS SUPPOSE TO DO THAT WITH MY 3 1/2 JUST LAST WEEK ,I DIDNT 3 IN 4DAYS, AND PUT HIM ON FULL DOSES OF MIRALAX TO GET HIM REALLY SOFT, HE SEEMS TO BE GOING...BUT THIS MUST BE VERY FRUSTRATING FOR YOU AND THE BOY....BUT IF THEY HAVENT TOLD YOU NOW TO GIVE ENEMAS, THEY SHOULD OF,..IF HE CANT GO HE NEEDS ENEMAS...YOU SHOULD KNOW WHEN TO GIVE HIM ENEMAS. BUT LET ME ASK WHAT DID THEY DO ALL NINE TIMES YOU TOOK HIM TO THE HOSPITAL? GIVE HIM ENEMAS? AND THEY SAID WHAT? I AM CURIOUS CASUE I WOULD NEVER TAKE HIM TO THE HOSPITAL BECASEU HE AINT POOPED.ALL THEY WILL DO IS THE ENEMA WHICH I CAN DO MYSELF, AND MAYBE THATS WHAT YOU SHOULD BE DOING? COULD HE BE SO BACKED UP AND GET BLOCKED THAT THE MED. DONT WORK?IT WILL TAKES WEEKS AND WEEKS FOR THE MEDICINE TO WORK ON STOOL THAT IS IMPACTED..THAT SWHY I AM CONFUSED TO WHY THE DR. DIDNT TELL YOU now IN 2008 TO GIVE ENEMA?

They put a NG tube thru his nose to stomache and clean him out with go lightly.takes about 7 to 10 days to clean him out.just found out yesterday that his muscles to squeeze out the stool are not working so he can not get the stool out on his own.We have done the enema thing it still did not work.Now they are going to do biopsy's for hirshsprung disease, talking about putting a tube into his side for me to do enemas straight to his colon.I will keep updating as I find out what he going to have done next.If hirshsprung he will have to have surgery to correct.
