Chronic Giardiasis

by sick1, Sep 28, 2001 12:00AM
I have got giardia parasite for almost a year.

I have suffered from most of the familiar symptomps (the cysts where found few times by stool samples).
My doctor treated me with metronidazole twice (once for a week and once for a month with weaker dosage), but the parasite cysts are still found in the stool samples, and the symptoms countinue, although they got weaker while the year passed.

My two questions are:
1. I feel a sore pain in my right side (in the intestine area).
this pain comes for few seconds and goes away, specially when i bend and in the mornings (before and when i am in the toilet).sometimes it disappears for few days but afterwards it returns. can this pain be connected to the giardiasis? (my doctor does'nt think so, but he has no good explanation for the cause).
2. Is there anything more to do in order to cure the giardiasis?
