I have had chronic burping for about 2 yrs now. I did read the posts on this issue, but none were posted lately (2011) Did anyone find ANYTHING that helped? I have had all sorts of tests looking at my upper and lower GI and esophagus
looked at via dye or whatever that gross fizzy stuff is you have to drink. Interestingly enough, the radiologist told me that the fizzy stuff would make me burp, and guess what? I didn't! Go figure. My doc thought it was Acid Reflux
, although I rarely have heartburn, or acid. She has tried all sorts of AR medicine on me but none have helped. I have constant burping ALL day, ALL night. Sometimes the pressure
when I change positions, but this has nothing to do with the symptoms. I don't eat fast foods, I don't drink soda or alcohol. I do drink plain water and water flavored with Crystal light. I generally eat chicken, no fried foods. I eat fruit and vegetables sauteed in EVOO. I take vitamins, I am not overweight, and exercise regularly. THAT in and of itself is a problem because of increased air intake I guess, and besides, who wants to exercise near someone who burps all the time? I try to keep it quiet and am pretty much successful. Thank GOD I exercise first thing in the AM so I don't burp what I've eaten all over the general area. It has impacted every facet of my life, and I am quite frankly tired and worn out from the whole situation. I have been on the low carb diet occasionally to lose that 10 extra lbs that seem to creep up every now and then, but that, and what I eat regularly has no effect. Even if I only drink water with no food first thing in the AM until noon or later (no food in the stomach since 5pm the day before), I am still burping. When this began I lived in the cold of PA, then lived in the dry air of AZ, stayed in cold windy rainy Britain for an extended time and am now in humid Florida. The climate and or area (in ref to pollen and other allergens) has had no effect. I don't have a clue as to why the onset, or how to fix it. Anyone?
Welcome to the gastroenterology community! I would recommend you talk to your doctor about trying different eliminating diets. Certain foods in your diet can cause symptoms even if they haven't been eating for 24 hours. For instance, gluten would be a good thing to avoid 100% for 2 months with your doctors consent.
