Chronic liver disease

31-year-old male having moderate gastric problems since teenage years. These problems were at once to be consistent with what I would call diarrhoea-like symptoms. Not the runs, but occasional with some vague abdominal pain. I never thought of it to be any problem, so I always overlooked it, thinking it was mostly my diet. These problems seemed to have progressively gotten worse for the past few years, with primarily more nausea and heartburn. Doc placed me on nexium, stopped the hearburn but nausea persists not severe but nearly every day for a short period of time, sometimes a couple of times a day. Does not seem to be in accord with what I eat, though feeling my appetite has sort of changed. Just don't care to eat breakfast right now, feeling most hungry in the afternoon.

Lately I have heard that a typically bad diet and liver problems coincided. I can say that my diet has never been real good, ate a lot of fast food and quick foods. Ate a whole lot of spicy foods, but never cared for dairy or cheese. Never cared a whole lot for sweets, choosing to eat spicy chips and stuff as snacks. I also drink very heavily, like have had constant thirst even when I was a child. Used to drink lots of soda and coffee, but now have toned down to almost juice and green tea with no caffeine. I always chalked up digestive problems to this for many years.

Can this kind of a diet put me at risk for liver disease, knowing that the symptoms initially present as minor GI trouble?

I can't answer you question about your liver, but I think I would have a colonscopy to rule out IBD. You sound alot like I felt just before I was diagnosed. Good luck!
