Constant Nausea

I am here hoping to find anyone who has found a solution to their constant chronic nausea. I have seen numerous doctors, had numerous tests, tried various elimination diets and other supplements but to no avail and have suffered for 18 months. So far the drugs I have taken which haven't worked are metoclopramide, prochlorperazine, domperidone, ondansetron and cyclizine.
I know that other people suffer from similar issues and I understand that many eventually find a result so that is why I am asking.

This scares me because its going on only five months, and to know it can go on for so much longer really is a nightmare.  I have done bland, spicy, naturopathic, over the counter, and prescription nausea aids.  I just wanna curl up in a ball and die sometimes, other days I am perfectly fine, but never has a full week gone by without nausea at some point.  I cannot even take my medications because they come back up.  Going all bland for four days, then adding things back once at a time.  Oy.

Matthew, thanks for the answer, I have replied to the personal message you sent me.

Christy, yes Matthew is right, your son could very well be intolerant to certain foods. You can get tested for fructose, lactose and gluten (celiacs disease) but any other foods you are better to do a food elimination diet. It is all very well doctors giving him different medications but surely the main thing is to find the reason. Doctors are hopeless when it comes to food intolerances so you need to find a specialist. If you haven't done  so yet, you could immediately try feeding him gltuen and dairy free for a couple of weeks to see if he has any improvment as dairy and gluten are the worst culprits. He may actually get worse initially due to withdrawal symptoms but stick with it. You might like to do this whilst you are waiting to see a specialist.

I should note that I have tried various elimination diets but have not yet found anything but I still don't discard it.

As Matthew says he might also be sensitive to things in the environment, again you will need a specialist.

In the meantime you might like to try a high dose probiotic but make sure it doesn't have gluten or dairy in. A good place to start might be Digestive Advantage and/or Align.

Let us know how you get on please.

had my gallbladder removed in 2007, thought that was the answer to all my prayers with a low HIDA scan number.  Now I think it wasn't working well because of my fructose intolerance and I did surgery, removed an organ and $12,000 medical bill for nothing.. I wouldn't want you to go through that as well.

I was total insomnia/anxiety/nausea riddled guy for 4 1/2 years and i'm still dealing with issues but nothing like before..I was a lab rat trying different medication of antiobiotics/stomach acid reducers...you name it.. all the time IBS this IBS that..

Mine was all created by fructose intolerance.  Hit suddenly and not one doctor for all those years suggested a breath test (cheap and quick diagnosis) for lactose and fructose.  If I would have done that test I swear I'd be an airline pilot now.  Doesn't sound like a possibility and I doubted it too..you might not have any symptoms of it other than nausea but seriously look into food intolerances/allergy..you can be intolerant to ANYTHING and one common symptom is food...heck even a sensitivity to smells scents and perfumes can happen when you don't have any life allergies or intolerance before.. i'd start out with some white rice and unseasoned flavored meats for 4 days.. it's hard but then see if you improve at all (course celiacs take months to feel better..)

anyway just a thought.  Hang in there both of you - I sent a message to idkwia but promethazine (anti-nausea med) helped me the most..made me super tired but helped me get through some social situations.

My son has been nauseated daily for a year.  He has tried every over the counter med, and a lot of prescription meds as well.  We, too, are looking for something to work.  Every 2 to 3 months he tries a new med.  The doctors like him to stay on a medication for about 6 weeks to see if it helps.
