Constant constipation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Constant constipation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone.  Okay, so by now I am pretty much used to being backed up(not to say it's enjoyable-haha)..except when it gets to be a week or more w/o going and I'm in severe pain.  When it comes to that point, it really gets me craving opiates.  (I'm in recovery-69 days off heroin today.)  Stupid I know, because opiates only induce constipation.  I used to have such issues w/ it when I was using heavily....and though it was the cause, heroin was the only thing that made the pain go away...But this isn't about drugs!  I'm clean now-on suboxone(but a very low dose 2-4 mgs a day) and have been on that on and off for the last 2 years.  And in the past when I've been at that dose, I haven't been constipated.  But since like August 09, I have been having awful bouts with it.  Well, longer than that.  Gosh...I finally went yesterday after like six days.  But enough of the gruesome details(yuck) I'm just wondering if anyone's got any ideas or suggestions of things they do to help prevent this literal CRAP-or lack thereof.  ;)

Here's what I do: I take docusate sodium 100 mg(usually 2-3 pills per night(or day sometimes) just as preventative measure.  As far as I know, thats ok to do on daily basis.  My drs. have never told me otherwise.  But as we all know, drs dont know everything.....I drink as much water as I possibly can w/o getting nauseated.  I eat oatmeal and other fiber cereals.  Apples, applesauce...I don't eat totally healthy-thats for sure..And I know diet is a big part of it but thats just one of my 2010 resolutions...I avoid stimulant laxatives cuz they only seem to cramp me up worse and not work.  I take Miralax every so often.  Ummm what else....awhile ago my dr. prescribed me some "generlac" syrup I believe it was called.  He told me it was very intense and scared me outta taking it.  Has anyone ever used it?  One of the times I went into the ER, they gave me a big old jug of the stuff you drink prior to surgeries, to make sure your fully cleaned out....It worked...After 4 hours of drinking what seemed like GALLONS(probably was) of wierd tasting water.  Ugh.  I have used enemas and suppositories.  But only in extreme cases.  The enemas worked to varying degrees, the suppositories did not.

My suboxone dr. has suggested hypnosis.  I see him on the 18th of this month & am thinking about trying that...A few times recently, I've taken some clonazepam-and that helps so much.  Which leads me to believe a lot of this is psychological...Fear of bms???!?!?!?!?  But I can't be taking benzodiazepines as I am a drug addict and in recovery....

I have hepatits c, but am at verrryyy low levels right now & had constipation problems loonng before contracting that, so I know its not the cause...This is gettin long and to anyone who reads it all and/or responds, thank you...I'm just sick of it.  It's really debilitating.  (Also when I went to the ER/urgent care in the past, they ran tests and did exams and found nothing physically wrong with me.)  Thank you for listening!!
