Contemplating anal fistula surgery

Contemplating anal fistula surgery

I am going for a second opinion soon regarding an anal fistula.  First colon rectal specialist recommended either a seton, some type of flap surgery.  He didn't know until he got "in there".  I would prefer a non-surgical answer.  My family practioner initally diagnosed me with an anal abcess (abscess) and recommended I see a colo-rectal physician.  I got to the appointment and this physician said I just had hemmroids and to not continue with anti-biotics prescribed by my family doctor.  I discontinued sue of antibiotics, and within 3 days I was in a great deal of pain.  I started the antibiotics on my own and the problems got much better.  To make a long story short, after a couple of months, I noticed a hole in my skin near the anus and had no idea what this was.  Again went to the colo-rectal physician and this is when he diagnosed an anal fistula.  This is when I thought I needed a second opinion, which is coming up in the next few weeks.  I have done some research and heard of many options available, but I am not sure which one is best for me.  I strongly am opposed to surgery.

Let me know your opinion and options you have read about.
