Cortisone suppositories

Cortisone suppositories

I have had IBS for around 23 years. I have tried everything. It really controls what I can do in my life. My intestinal tract becomes very inflamed,  a friend said maybe cortisone suppositories would help with the inflammation   Does anyone know if this would help and if it's harmful ?

I have read that it is used to reduce inflammation for various intestinal tract problems.  A medicine I took for my IBS that really helped was hyoscyamine, it relaxes the bowel muscles and stopped the diarrhea I had with IBC.  I can also tell you that I've heard drinking aloe plant juice or water with aloe in it is supposed to sort of line the digestive tract and promote healing, I just got some but haven't drank it yet.  Also, I do drink a probiotic drink sometimes, Kafir or Acidophilus milk has the "good" bacteria to help return the intestinal flora to normal, helps break down waste, is especially useful whilst taking antibiotics, which those pills can cause constipation.

I assume you have been tested for various gastrointestinal bacteria and viruses, like H. pylori or C. diff, that are hard to get rid of.  And I hope whomever you doc is watching over your health has gotten a scan of your abdomen, to see if you have developed some other condition that can be treated somehow, like diverticulitis or Crohn's disease.

My IBS started on account of a drying sort of medicine, a tranquilizer Ativan, which once I got off it, my IBS-diarrhea stopped immediately, but it sure did a number on my intestinal lining, giving me lots of diverticuli when before I had none.  That's why I got the aloe drink, to see if it would help those heal up somehow, I don't know.  Anyway, if you've been on some sort of medicine for all these years, could be it is creating this IBS problem you have.  I also had to get off an SSRI Lexapro, too, made me feel awful, altho I do not think it was the reason for my IBS, as I got off it after the other medicine.

I hope you find a medicine that will help you.  And as you probably already know, drinking extra water as a daily habit and slowly introducing more fiber foods in your diet both help digestion a lot, and exercise helps strengthen the tummy muscles, which are responsible for moving the bowels.
