Could my Hepatitis C be causing me adominal(abdominal) pain?

I am a newly diagonised patient of HCV.
I figure I have had the HCV for about 5 years now and have had it diagonised recently.
I have experianced intense adominal (abdominal) pain on my right hand side below my rib cage. Could this pain come from the HCV?
I know my HCV is in a active stage and I am starting treament soon.

I have Hepatitis C and have, for about 17 years. I had a liver transplant in june of 1999, and towards the end, before my transplant, there was a lot of pain and swelling. If your liver is inflamed, it will hurt. You need to get your enzymes checked and possibly a biopsy, to get a true reading of the condition of your liver. The Hepatitis really attacks the liver and will eventually destroy it, when it is in an active stage. The doctors try and use a Riboviran mixture, with daily or weekly injections, but most people can not handle the extreme flu like symtoms, you feel like ****! Milk thistle will help and a low protein diet. Try to avoid sugar and fatty foods, learn to love vegetables, fruit, soy products. You need to be especially nice to your organ, because you never know if you are going to be one of the lucky ones that get a new one. It is a **** shoot at best.
I was very lucky and I can not be sure that I will be lucky again, when that eventual day comes when the hepatitis starts to destroy my new liver. IT WILL. There could be other reasons your having the pain, but I would at least check out what the Hep is doing and how active it is. That is a start. I wish you luck and hang in there. It is something that can lay dormat for 20 years, so get the best that you can, while you can. Keep the faith and find a good gastro doctor, that is familiar with the liver and hepatitis, preferably one that has direct contact with a transplant hospital, in case you need to get on a list in the future. I hope not, but it is better to be prepared than sit around and wait for the worse. Be strong and good to your self and hopefully it will be something totally different.
MY BEST TO YOU
