Could somebody help me to understand my tests?

by atldianabryant, Feb 22, 2009 01:23PM
I recently wrote about a liver pannel I've done about 5 months ago that came back with my AST and ALT fairly high ( AST 39 and ALT 81). I just went to the doctor two weeks ago and retested everything.
Here is the results:

GGT: 12
Protein total: 6.9
Bilirubin Indirect: 0.6
Bilirubin Direct: 0.1
Bilirubin Total: 0.7
AST: 19
ALT: 22
Alkaline Phosphatase: 51
Albumin: 4.2
A/G Ratio: 1.6

I hope the doctor calls me to tell what that means. In the mean while... is anybody out there that could help me out?!

Thanks,
Diana.

Well your AST/ALT came back down to a nice level. But of course you would want to know why they were high on the test prior. Maybe from meds you were taking? Tylenol can cause elevation and other meds also.

Hopefully someone else can help you. I'm sorry I really don't know the meaning of the other numbers. I always suggest a hepatitus (hepatitis) panel when enzymes are raised - yours did come down, but if it were me, I would get the panel just to put my mind at ease. I don't think its hepatitus (hepatitis), but I guess because I was diagnosed with it due to elevated enzymes, everytime I see someones enzymes that are elevated my mind goes right to that - which might not be the case.

Good luck. Hope someone gives you better info.
