Could this be lymphoma,cancer?

by mikey2, Apr 09, 2005 12:00AM
In recent months I've had constipation, some abdominal pain, feeling of fullness, rapid heartbeat.
I've been diagnosed with fatty liver and diverticulosis. Also I have had a kidney infection and my white blood cells have been elevated and have an abnormal liver.
Doctor has performed colonoscopy,EGD,gastric emptying tests. Also have had stress test, ekg's,echo of heart, ultrasound of legs and numerous blood workups.
Recently I have noticed that there may be some swelling in my armpits and neck area where it connects to shoulder. Also there's like a lump or something in my chest which the doctor says is a bone which is pushed upward when someone such as myself is significantly overweight. Can he tell it's that bone just by feeling it? Also, the swelling in my armpits and neck and shoulder area he said is probably fat.Can he tell that just by feel? Also, the elevated white blood cells and the abdominal pain, could this be a sign of non-Hodgkins lymphoma? I've never noticed this swelling under my arms or in my neck before. What could be causing all my maladies.I'm worried about cancer and lymphomas.Thanks.

Tough to say for sure without examination.  Any type of lump or enlarged lymph node in the axilla is certainly concerning.

You can consider some imaging studies (i.e. an ultrasound) which can further define the area of concern.

If it is consistent with an enlarged lymph node, you can consider a referral to a surgeon where a biopsy can be considered.

Otherwise, you have had a pretty comprehensive GI and cardiac evaluation for your symptoms.  Many of the major diseases have been ruled out with these studies.

You can discuss these options with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
