I think the effectiveness of probiotics varies & only you can decide whether they help in your particular case.  I don't use them all the time but I do find that a week on Yakult has benefits for me, yet other probiotic yoghurt drinks make me feel a bit bloaty & uncomfortable.
I've read the blurb on the internet about the guy who 'cured' himself using the magic enzymes, I guess one makes of it what they will.  Just believe, I say. The human body is an amazing thing; belief is a pretty powerful mechanism in itself.

I was just diagnosed with Crohns too and I'm trying to educate myself to see what will help with symptoms, etc. I went to my local health food store and talked at length with someone there and picked up a book on natural remedies. It does seem to suggest that Probiotics and Digestive Enzymes can help with restoring the good bacteria and help breaking down foods for digestion. I picked some up too and am going to try that along with Flax Seed Oil and Fish Oil to get the Omega 3's and 6. I asked my Gastro doc if it was ok to take with the meds he prescribed and he said yes. He also recommended a good multi-vitamin, preferably a liqued one or childrens chewable since it's easier for the body to process, and Folic Acid. You do have to watch that you don't get deficient in vitamin B12 since the terminal ileum is the only area of the body that produces that and the terminal ileum is the area of intestines that Crohns usually is the worst in.

I'm thinking about going to a naturapathic doctor and seeing what he says. He wants to do some food allergy tests, etc. I know there seems to be certain foods that irritate things and I want to try and be healthier and find things that soothe the intestines rather than irritate them. I'm still learning too!
Crohns isn't curable but it is treatable. I think the more we learn, the bette we can take care of ourselves. Good luck to you! I wish you the best as you embark on this journay too. Take care.
