DIarrhea getting worse

I have been having diarrhea 2-3 times a week for almost 2 years, had colonoscopy a year ago that had a polyp removed and so fine. Now I am getting diarrhea every day, no matter what I eat.  I get pain in right uppergastric area and sometimes between shoulder blades.  I am afraid to go any where because it is rapid onset and I have not much time to find a restroom,  I have apt in January with GI.....I am sick of this...anyone have any ideas what I can do?

Iron panel testing does not and is not included in regular blood tests. While they are simple blood tests they are not ran on routine blood work.

"Normal" also is not necessarily "optimal" and there is a BIG difference in many cases. When a dr tests for thyroid function, fer example, there is a large reference range, and if it falls within that range they tell you that you are "fine". They rarely test further with the Free T3 and Free T4, which are even more important than TSH. This is just an example of one. Also over 10 years ago the Endocrinologists came to the decision that the reference ranges for TSH be changed to .3 to 3.0 from the range most drs labs use of .40 - 5.50 or higher. THis would mean that many more millions of people would be screened and diagnosed with thyroid problems than are currently. In treatment, the target that is found to most benefit patients is about TSH of 1.0. S if a dr is treating or even diagnosing based on the old reference ranges OR simply on TSH levels, without looking at Free T3 and Free T4, there are many people that are suffering from thyroid issues and symptoms the tests are missing due to drs lack of support for the new reference ranges and often a refusal to test the FT3 and FT4.

Again, I am only using this as example, not saying this is your problem. When people say their blood tests are all "normal" and they have some pretty chronic symptoms and problems that get worse over time, then either the dr is not doing the right tests to pinpoint the problem or they are only looking at numbers and not trying to diagnose pr treat patients with symptoms they present with.

I say this with conviction, as my husband's serious and life-threatening illnesses were left undetected for over 10 years due to the drs missing very important clues, ignoring and dismissing test results, and not having insight into important symptoms that were early stages of underlying systemic disease.

Tests are often very broad in range, so they do not always reflect the persons who are higher or lower in the range, and do not flag the results that fall within it. Iron is another good example of this, and often the dr assess iron levels by looking at hemoglobin levels or rbc levels, etc. and not get the full iron storage picture taken with ferritin, TSAT%, TIBC and serum iron.

It is always best to get copies of your tests results and research optimal ranges for everything...they look at numbers and results based on reference ranges that may or may not be "normal" for you. The results always tell a story...your dr may not have the time to really analyze what they mean.

There are reasons for your symptoms, do not give up and do not take the idea that your blood tests are "normal" to heart. If there are problems, question, question, question...your body is telling you things for a reason. Even IBS (one example) is a manifestation of other causes and things going on in your body. There are root causes, and once you get to the root causes of your issues then you can more readily treat and resolve the symptoms.

Take care...C

All of my blood tests in the past have all been normal with the exception of vitamin D....they gave me mega doses and about poisoned me at one point but I was within normal limits last time.  Its really terrible I have to go without eating in order to go anywhere...it does not seem to matter what I eat...and it seems to be worse the past month. Thank you for input.

Psoriasis (skin conditions) and gastrointestinal disorders (like IBS) can be manifestations of other underlying disease and systemic conditions.

You can research the gastro/dermatological connections on line. One I have been researching for my Dad due to his rosacea links gastro problems and there are genetic disorders that affect the gastrointestinal tracts that are linked to even vision and eye diseases like iritis and uveitis. Of which he has as well. There are many cutaneous and ocular manifestations in systemic disease.

One very common but underdiagnosed genetic disorder that has links to dermatological issues and gastro issues has to do with iron overload. There are many disorders related to iron overload, even anaemia, or iron deficient anaemia can be misdiagnosed, or a person can be anaemic and iron load at the same time.

Iron is very toxic and does destroy and damage organs, tissues and joints. Hemochromatosis is one of the iron overload disorders, it is genetic, often overlooked, and very common. It is a gastrointestinal disorder, as iron is absorbed into the intestines before being either excreted as excess or used by the body for proper health. But in the iron overload disorder, the body absorbs and stores excess iron.

Good to rule it out, with the symptoms you have, and the trouble you have with medications, this might be a god one to investigate. The tests are simple blood tests but not routine, so drs are missing simple clues.
