Diabetic like symptoms when hungry please advise..

I'm going to list my past 3 week medical history to give you all the facts.  -This is a digestive question-

I visited my primary doctor I mentioned to him that about 3 weeks ago I did a really stupid thing.  I had a short timed protected intercourse with a sex worker.  This experience has caused me great stress and anxiety.

About a week after I had that sexual encounter, I started to get dizzy and experienced heart burn for two weeks.  Each time I would eat, I would have bowel movement (with a lot of gas) within 5 to 10 minutes, they was not diarrhea except for one day.  I took Aciphex and it did help with the hearburn.

I have had no flu like symptoms or fever, no pain or rashes or swollen lymph nodes, no facial flushing.
Slight fatigue due to stress and work and lack of sleep.  No significant weight loss for the last 3 weeks (2 pounds in 2 weeks)

At this point (3 weeks from sexual encounter), when I'm hungry I loose my sense of balance, my vision is blurred and have trouble concentrating.  I also feel tingling at the tip of my fingers and burning sensation at my feet.  My stool has not been normal for about a week, it's either light brownish or extremely dark kaki with a foul unusual smell.

It feels like the more hungry I get, the worse the symptoms get.  As soon as I eat, I get better but the process repeats again when if I go hungry again.

My primary doctor tested my glucose level @ 101, did a general blood test and could not find anything.
I'm also awaiting a glucose tolerance test.

My primary doctor is baffled by my symptoms, even though my glucose level seems normal I display all of the symptoms of hyperglycemia. I'm not overweight and am pretty healthy.

A second doctor examined me and strongly believes that the digestive symptoms are due to extreme anxiety and stress.

What concerns me is that there are many times when I am calm and if I don't eat, I get to the point of a seizure.
It feels like my body is not getting enough nutruients. Could this be due to a intestinal infection even though I don't have dierreah?

Can you please advise?  Thank you.

Anxiety and stress certainly can cause your symptoms - and should be considered if all the other etiologies have been ruled out.

The symptoms you are describing are more indicative of low (hypoglycemia), not high blood sugar.  One option would be to obtain a glucometer and measure your sugar at the instant you have the symptoms.

Regarding the vision changes and tingling, a referral to a neurologist can be considered.  Imaging with an MRI, as well as blood tests looking for metabolic diseases (i.e. B-12 deficiency or thyroid disorders) can be considered.

An intestinal infection can be tested via stool tests as well as a lower endoscopy.

These options can be considered with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

I dont think this has to do with sexual intercourse, why dont you backtrack and find out what and where you have eaten and drunk??

Well I do recall after the event on that same evening. I ate at a Chinese restaurant their special priced Lobster and steak dinner.

I do remember the steak being not well cooked at all and who knows where the cheap lobster came from.

I suggested to my primary doctor that I may have amoeba dysentary but he said that I would have strong dierreah.  I'm not a doctor but it sure does feel like I have a bug in my intestine.

That's why I feel like I'm not getting enough nutrients and often thirsty and have gas after I eat.

you better go back to your doctor and ask him to take you stool sample to the lab, also in another thread, they are talking about guiardias?? which does not show up in testing.
I recently bot a bag of spinach and boil it a little and add to my pizza,I have it heated in the oven until pizza is done.
After I ate a few slices,I felt nauseated, then I am afraid to get up like if I get up,I will pass out.
Finally I zipzap my way to the bathroom to throw up and I felt much better afterwards,I also took some garlic tablets hoping it will kill some germs in my system.
I am lucky,I could have been one of those E-COLI statistics.
Undercook meat and stale lobster could be the problem.

Hi, Rudy. It sounds like a lot of your symptoms have to do with anxiety about the sexual encounter you had. I think if you can deal with that, maybe by talking to a close, trusted friend or relative and offload and come to terms with whatever the guilt is, then your physical symptoms might well disappear altogether. Good luck.
