Diagnosis for the Sludge

by deb6637, Feb 21, 2009 11:33PM
I had my gall bladder removed in November-diagnosed by a hydiscan-no stones but gall bladder dysfunction-low ejection rate.  Prior to the operation I had nasuea and intense upper right quadrant back pain to the point of being incapacitated and not able to work.  After the surgery I had no pain for 2 mos-well maybe an occaisional tweak in the back after a large meal or a meal with red meat.  In the last 2weeks the back pain has escalated to a constant occurance and just as bad and maybe even a little worse than prior to the surgery.  I will also get occasional naseau half way through a meal.  I have been to the ER and a GI guy begging for an ECRP since two friends I have had the same thing and were both treated for sludge in the bile duct-both have been symptom free since.  Both the ER doc and the GI guy insisted it is nerve related but never treated me or referred me-They really did not believe I was in such pain and treated me like I was drug seeking-I am so furious.  I live in a small town with inadequate healthcare.  Does anyone have a recommendation for a good GI guy in the Spokane area?  I am in so much pain I can not even lead a normal life!! My surgeon is out of town for awhile and I can not get a hold of him HELP

Hello,

I can't offer you any solutions but your problems sound alike like mine.  I had my gallbladder removed in October since I was having extreme pain that put me in the ER 3x in 7 days.  They finally decided to remove my gallbladder which did not show anything wrong with it. The pain I have has not stopped but it has decreased in severity  I still have times when it is out of control.  It feels like something in there is filling up and going to explode.  Does yours feel that way?  I also get a lump in my stomach right underneath by breastbone I get these symptons everytime I put something in my stomach.  I also have nausea that comes and goes.  They sent me to a guy who does ERCP's but he won't do the test since my liver and pancreas enzymes are normal.  They are now telling me it is a nerve problem too!  I asked for something for pain and they too acted like I was just looking for pain med.  That also made me furious.  They finally gave me percocet.  It helps with the pain some but it doesn't work for the whole 8 hours per pill.  They want me to see a pain managment doctor.  I"m really not buying into the nerve problem since I was having the pain before my gallbladder was removed.  I'm at my witts end too!  I don't live anywhere near Spokane, I live in the middle of the country but I do have a good doc in Indianapolis who specialized in ERCP.  How are you liver and pancreas enzymes?  All I can say is hang in there and hopefully we both will get a solution soon.
