Hi. My name is Chris and I am a 28 y/o male. I was diagnosed with IBS about 4 years ago and was prescribed numerous drugs throughout the years, but currently taking Hyoscyamine for it. My IBS was definitely much more IBS-D than IBS-C. I also take Buspar for anxiety.
I had my gall bladder out laproscopically on 7/30/07. I came home the same day and have to say my recovery
on my side. I went back to the GI surgeon just so he could look at it. He said it was nothing to worry about and that it would take roughly a month to resolve itself. He did mention it would spread and look pretty bad (which it is starting to do).
The other big concern I have is that a few days after sugery (last thurs) Ive developed severe diahhrea (usually only when I eat something). It seems that just sitting down and starting to eat has triggered it, and when the diahhrea itself is usually yellow
, explosive, and gassy. I dont really have the cramping or anything like that.
Now that I took a little time off from work I've been perusing the internet looking for information about this diahhrea. It seems that a small amount of people do suffer from this after surgery...some for years at a time. Needless to say this has only gotten me more scared rather than made me feel better.
I guess my question is this:
Is it normal to have this type of diahhrea roughly a week after surgery? If so, how soon does it usually last? Is there anything I can do to treat it? Yesterday it was a little better (only went twice and in the morning). I took my hyoscyamine 30 mins before eating lunch and dinner and it helped...only had some gas
(take pill 30 mins before eating) and so far Ive gone 3 x with another coming. I do have a follow up with the surgeon on weds but I would appreciate any help and reassurance anyone can give.
