Diahrrea, Uric acid, diabetes and Lupus

Question, can LUPUS cause diabetes?  No one in my family has ever had diabetes but I had an Uncle who had LUPUS.  I was admitted to the hospital 5 times between Dec. 1993 to Sept. 1996 for one thing or another and Dr. Zashin told me I needed to be monitored for Lupus.  Wouldn't you think they would have discovered the diabetes at that time with all the test they ran on me, yes even for diabetes.  In 2005 my glucose was over 200.  The 3 month test was 10.9.  I now keep it down to 6.4.  I am taking 1000 mg of Methforim twice a day.

I have had loose stools for the past 6 years.  About every 4 or 5 months it turns to severe diarrhea.   Test results for uric acid is around 12 (what ever that means).  I swell severely for which I am taking a potasium sparing fluid pill.  It helps but I still swell pathetically.  The glands under my chin have stayed swollen for 20 years and get bigger every day but the blood test don't show anything.

I have not felt good since Jan. of 2005 when my work schedule stressed me out severely.  I am not under that stress anymore but I can't get my energy up.

Every test imaginable has been done on me.  Since the test were done in the mid 90's, I don't remember exactly what the other test were.  The ANA is the one that came back 1/2 point under the positive side. That I do remember.  Dr. Scott Zashin told me at the time I needed to have my symtoms treated as the came up and I needed to be monitored for LUPUS.  As far as under the chin swelling, yeap, I know it is my glands and not fluid or "fat". When the fluid in my face goes down you can still feel the swollen glands.  every once in a while they hurt.   The reason I take fluid pills is because I littereally stay swollen all over.  Sometimes the swelling isn't from fluid.  I have lost all my energy.

you said some of your test came back normal.  (test for lupus??)  If so, what test did they do?  I am just delving into this Lupus stuff, but I would think theroretically, lupus could contribute to diabetes because it can affect your organs and connective tissue.  Have you done a search on the internet on that subject?

Please write back and let me know what test have been ran on you.

Diabetes Type II, which you obviously have it, may appear at any time in life, so it's possible you just haven't had it in 1993-6.

If you're taking diuretics, you still got a diagnosis at some time. Was it a kidney problem or problem with your supra-renal gland?

Under chin swelling - how do you know they are "glands" and not just a fluid, or fat?
