Diarrhea - all at once or 20 times a day -why?

Okay, I have been having chronic diarrhea for many years. My husband was aggravated because he couldn;t understand why I would use the bathroom, leave it and rush back a few minutes later, then leave, rush back ...many times. He said, "Why don't you just sit there and do it all at once?" I know it sounds crazy for someone to ask me that but sometimes it is a one time/day deal, all watery diarrhea and other times it is spasmy, crampy, type where I feel I am finished going, leave the bathroom and only have to rush back minutes later sometimes up to 10 times in order to be finally finished.
I have had these problems in large stores where I was done, walked all the way across the store to where I was shopping and then the urge to run to the BR overtakes me, over and over. Does anyone else have this same type of symptoms?

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  Yes, this type of diarrhea is actually very common.  Have you seen a gastroenterologist about this?  Have you had any testing done?  Have you tried any dietary changes?
