Diarrhea, sharp abdominal pain, weightloss, loss of appetite.

Hi, im a 22 year old male. For the past 5-6 months i have had diarrhea 3-5 times a day, Severe Abdominal pains that come and go right under the right rib cage, sometimes the left. In my throat it feels like its gonna swell shut, i have problems swallowing foods, pills, etc. I Urinate alot and sometimes it feels like someone has kicked me in the groin area.(this just started about a week ago). My stools are always loose, sometimes almost like coffee grinds, and other times mucusy and dark. I have been to a Gastroenterologist and had a endoscopy done, monometry(spelling?) small bowel series, barium swallow, and the Gall Bladder test. Ive been checked for thyroid and habba syndrome. All of my test come back normal. I have lost around 10-15lbs in a months time. I cannot eat only pick here and there. I get the starving feeling in my stomach but when i goto eat i cant eat much at all and then its straight to the bathroom. Its been almost 6 months and im worried because i know there is something going on, but i cant get any answers. I had a colonoscopy in 2005, but they havent done one since this has happened, should I suggest one? Also the doctor said he could refer me to Duke or Winston Salem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You might want to be tested for Bacterial Overgrowth. Also, check out Dr. Joel Fuhrman's book Fasting and Eating for Health and his website (google him). In the newsletter section there is a newsletter with information about success in treating Crohn's with strict dietary modifications. People with other diseases with similar symptoms to Crohn's have also had success on similar diets from what I have read. As you look for answers, you may want to avoid dairy, grains and fatty foods. These are triggers for many people with similar symptoms. Steamed vegetables, soup and baked or boiled sweet potatoes are usually good for people suffering from severe GI problems.

You could have irritable bowel syndrome or some kind of infection going on. Is Lexapro helping. It sounds like you have more than one thing going on. Try getting a CT Scan of the abdomen if you havn't yet.

No i havent drink in 9-12 months. I do smoke. They gave me Carafate and sulkrafate i think im spelling that right. Ive also tried bentyl. The Carafate and sulkrafate both make me sick and end up throwing up. Bentyl just didnt do anything. Right now im currently taking Lexapro which was prescribed by my normal doctor for panic attacks/anxiety.
