Diarrhea change in bowels after appendectomy

I had an appendectomy due to a ruptured appendix.  My surgery was over 5 years ago.  Prior to my appendectomy I was very regular but only had a bowel movement 2-3 times a week.  Since my appendectomy by regularity changed to 1-2 times a day and most of the time being diarrhea.

Would like to know if this is unusual, rare or something that should be looked into?

This discussion is related to chronic diarrhea following appendectomy.

I notice your date was July 17.  What is the current status.
I had my appendix removed 10 days ago (non-ruptured).  I am having very frequent greenish soft-bowel movements today I have gone 6 times.  I am having constant pains in my right side (kind of like I took a good punch), belly is feeling bloated.  Just curious if this is normal.

my appendex burst and laproscopic surgery was performed.  i had no problem from the surgery, but my abdomin/stomach was inflated like i was pregnant.  after the surgery, i had severe diareaha.  Over a week later, I feel like i have an intestinal issue.  soft bowel movements and greenish.  Not at all normal for me.  Previously, I had never experienced any bowel problems.  Also, I run a low grad temperature.  I eat rice and yogurt as suggested but not better.
any suggestions?  ***@****

It's possible that the type and number of the beneficial bacteria that are normally in your GI tract changed due to the administration of the antibiotics they gave you after the surgery. You might consider trying some probiotics to see if that would be of any help. There are a number of decent brands on the market depending on where you live. Some of those include Digestive Advantage-IBS, Culturelle and FloraQ.
