Diarrhea for 3 months

Hello, everybody. I was hoping somebody may know what is possibly going on with me.

I started having diarrhea about 3 months ago. It was very sudden, and I thought it was because I had just eaten a TON of berries, or maybe it was the steak I bought the night before. After it didn't go away for two weeks, I knew it wasn't something I ate, so I went to the doctor. They did some basic blood tests and did a stool culture, but everything came back normal.

What's really weird is that after about a month, everything actually went back to normal for a week. I had normal, solid stools. Then the sudden diarrhea started again.

Diarrhea symptoms:

*At first, I was having 4-5 episodes a day. It then decreased to 1-3 times a day. Over the last month, pretty much every time I go, it's diarrhea, but It happens once every second or third day.

*It usually always comes on suddenly. One second I feel fine, the next second I better get to the bathroom right away or else I'll have to find a new job. [out of embarrassment]

*Half the time while I'm having diarrhea, my stomach is killing me. It goes away when it's over. The other half, it's pretty quick and painless.

*The diarrhea smells awful. Like really, really bad. Even my gas does.

*Looks like there's a lot of mucus in the diarrhea. Looks thick at times too. Sometimes it's just very watery.

*Half the time, when I look in the toilet after I had diarrhea, it's just very cloudy and I can't even see what it looks like

*sometimes if there's a more solid piece in all of the diarrhea, it floats to the top.

----------

I thought maybe a high fat diet was causing all of this. I was consuming about 4-5 TBSP on olive oil a day, 1 avocado a day, animal fats, etc. But for three months on this type of diet, I had no issues. So why would it cause problems so suddenly like that? But still, I cut back on the fat thinking it may be it. But these past two weeks, the diarrhea has continued. So it can't be that.

Any ideas?

could be a food allergy. I would see an allergy specialist and have the run some tests.

So my stool was normal for one day, then I went back to having diarrhea. This time is was very light in color. Like pale brown or something.

I tried probiotics, but it hasn't made a difference unfortunately.

Any type of food poisoning or stomach flu can screw up the balance of good/bad bacteria that is in your gut. I would suggest that both you go out and get a strong probiotic. they have them at vitamin shops, whole foods, fairway, or similar places. You want to get one that is at least 7 good strains of bacteria and probably 50 billion live cultures. This should help balance you out and hopefully stop the diarrhea.
If after taking this for a few weeks you don't notice a difference I would suggest going to a GI specialist to test for things like celiac and crohns.
I suggest cutting out dairy completely, its not good for anyone, but really bad for some.

I'm having similar problem from 2 months after I got the flu. I feel it's IBS but even after cutting back on caffine and dairy products I still get loose motions almost every day. Any help would be appreciated.
