Dicyclomine effects

My GI doctor just told me to stop using generic Levsin and prescribed Dicyclomine.  I am very leery about taking new meds as I just always seem to have some side effect.  I just started this yesterday and have to admit I feel better today.  However, Doc had me start Nortriptyline.  I took it 2 nights at bed time, didn't hardly sleep and was nauseated the days after.  I didn't use it last night and no nausea today.  My pharmacist seemed a bit surprised my doctor has me on both plus I take a very low dose of Alprazolam daily, have for over 4 years.  I guess I will try the Nortriptyline again tonight but sure don't look forward to possible nausea tomorrow!
I read the Dicyclomine is often prescribed for IBS.  I really should stay off the Internet but was reading possible side effects.  It is making my dry mouth issues worse but I read it can cause cardiac issues.
Was wondering if anyone has used this and how you tolerated it.

Am much worse. Been sick and nauseated all day. Been taking Xanax, Gas-X, Pepto Bismol, Decided to try the Omeprazole, nothing works.  Called the on call doctor fir a second time, not much help. I could go to   the ER
but they don't do much. I think I need a hospital admit but the doctor said insurance won't cover for IBS, if that is even what this is.  After a Holiday, I probably won't be able to see my GI doctor tomorrow and the on call doc said the same. For some reason, this group does not see each other's patients unless they are on hospital duty. I have never had such bad and drawn out medical care.

Thank you for the response. Since my last post, I was on the Dicyclomine then Levsin.  I was having an irregular heart beat fir over a day o went to ER and was told to stop the drugs.  My GI doc said the same. Had to wear a halter monitor, no meds recommended.  So, now two more drugs I can't take.
Finished the course of Xifaxan, made me worse for a few days but got through it (for the bacterial overgrowth). Was ok for a couple I'd days now nauseated again in the mornings and hacking more phlygm so now have to see a Pulmonologist and a specialist in San Francisco, GI.  Not until mid-January!!  I just feel horrible all the Imelda with the mouth, throat and stomach issues.

Hi there!

Dicyclomine is a commonly prescribed drug and is well tolerated by most patients, though a few may experience minor side effects. Major side effects are rare to occur.
