Oh Wow! I had the same problem a few months ago with the liver acting up. When you say severe pain where is the pain? I had pain where my liver is. Did you have blood work? I had elevated liver enzymes and pain and was put into the hospital to have several tests done. To this day, they don't know what caused the elevated liver enzymes - now the enzymes are normal and I too am not a drinker. You could try Google and do a search on Pancreas diet?

you ever feel like that even when you are extremely ill?

enzymes can go up and down keep an eye on your eyes if they have a yellow tint they are up.

WOW! The lipase was almost a thousand!!! Recently my amylase and lipase were checked and were normal - thank god, but they were never checked until after my liver enzymes came down.

These were my numbers when I sick and the doctor put me in the hospital
Alkaline Phos - 205   ---- range 40 - 140
GGT - 768 --- range 5 - 65
ALT - 677 --- range 5 - 48
AST -257 --- range 5 - 40
LDH - 287 --- range 125 - 275

When I was sick I felt sick. The pain was intense in the liver area and my stomach would constantly make weird noises. Sometimes so loud anyone in the same room as me could hear it across the room. I also had itching where the liver is. Strange thing is my eyes and skin NEVER turned yellow. I was always checking my eyes too.

Let me know how you're feeling and how those test results turn out.

I forgot to mention when I was in the hospital my primary doctor thinks the problem was stones in the bile duct (gallbladder was removed 2 years ago). I was referred back to my Gastro doctor and he also thinks it was stones. I think I've had worse problems since the gallbladder was removed!
