Difference between Gastroparesis & Gallstones???????

by NauseatedMommy, Nov 04, 2009 04:47PM
Hi!  I have been suffering with the terrible rotten egg burp, MISERABLE bloating, gas, and throwing up until every single ounce of everything is gone for years ... since I was in middle school.  It comes and goes.  I have been to the doctor several times for it and they have told me that they "think" it is acid reflux, or maybe my gallbladder, or just that my stomach produces too much acid; but have never actually ran tests on me to find out officially!  I was wondering if anyone actually knew the difference in symptoms between Gastroparesis and Gallstones??????  PLEASE someone help me!  I have done this 6 times in 3 weeks, and I am literally MISERABLE!!!!!!!  I am downing 2 bottles of Maalox per episode.  I dont know what else to do!!!!

Unfortunately, the symptoms can often overlap, so there's no clear-cut way to be able to tell without doing some testing. Go to the doc and ASK for tests.

Hi!  I am sorry to bother you, but I know that i have seen your member name in a lot of questions about this stuff, so you probably know what your talking about!!!  lol.  How do I get the docs to actually do tests and things to figure out what my problem is?????  That is what i have wanted for YEARS now, but none of the docs actually take it that far!!  I dont know why, I have EXCELLENT health insurance.  It really confuses me!  I am a stay-at-home-mom, and it is all I can do to take care of my 24 month old ...  Iam literally miserable!!!!!  I went several months and didnt have a spell, but in the past 3 weeks, I have done this 6 times!!!!!!

You're going to walk into your doc's office with a list of what you want done and sit down and say 'which one do we start with.' Period. It's time to get proactive and pushy. If this has been going on for years and no one is taking you seriously, then pushy is your next step. If your doc doesn't respond to that, it's time to find another doctor. If you have to say "I'm worried about my health and I'm tired of living the way I have been for 'x' years. My plan is to figure out what's going on, and not just 'guess' anymore. Here's my plan..............specifiy plan............ Are you onboard with this? Would you like to start the testing process, or do you want to refer me to a GI person? I'd like to know if you're interested, or if I need to start looking for another doctor.

Where do you think you want to start?
