Distal esophagus hernia

is it possable to have a hernia in the Distal esophogus.....neither my gp or specialist told me about the hernia....i read it in my records that were sitting in front of me while i was waiting for my doctor to come in.....when i asked the gp what the specialist had to say all he said is that the specialist said i have IBS....i knew that 47 years ago....the gp didn't say a thing about the reflux problem at all....is this hernia nothing to be concerned about....i would think it should be some concern
